Start with the course, not the country

Students usually arrive with a country in mind because of what a cousin or a neighbour did. That is the wrong first decision. The right sequence is course, then institutions that teach it well, then the countries those institutions are in, then the cost and visa picture for each.

Calculate the total, not the tuition

Tuition is the number in the brochure. The real number includes living costs for the full duration, health insurance, travel, visa and application fees, and a buffer for currency movement. Build the total before applying, because the point of no return is the deposit, not the offer letter.

Post-study work rights change

Work rights after graduation are set by policy and policy changes. Verify the current position from the official immigration source for that country at the time you apply, not from a forum post or a consultant's brochure printed two years ago.

Scholarships need earlier deadlines than admissions

Most scholarship deadlines fall before or alongside the main application round, and many need separate documentation. Students who apply first and look for funding afterwards usually find the funding round has closed.
